VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Do you have a talent you might like to share with someone in need of a friend? Maybe you play an instrument like the piano or you enjoy singing. Maybe you like to draw, paint, do puzzles, knit or crochet. Perhaps just having a friendly chat with a grateful listener would interest you. The following RSVP sites are always in need of caring people who can spend some time with a client or resident who might need a little extra TLC!

  • Alzheimer’s Association in Melville
  • Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center in East Islip
  • Day Haven Adult Day Services in Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson
  • Dominican Village in Amityville
  • United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island in Hauppauge

Also, if you enjoy public speaking, why not consider becoming an RSVP Speakers Bureau volunteer. These volunteers address organizations, clubs and senior centers, talking about topics of interest to our senior population.

Do you have some experience in fundraising? Maybe you helped with PTA or a local charity. RSVP is in need of a few more energetic volunteers to join our Fundraising Committee. Have fun and help grow the important Programs and Services we provide to those in need in Suffolk County.

For more information about these or many other RSVP volunteer opportunities, please call our Volunteer Coordinator, Terri Catania, at 631-979-9490 ext. 15 or email to coordinator@rsvpsuffolk.org

RSVP is looking for a Spanish-speaking volunteer to join our wonderful Telephone Reassurance Program which provides isolated seniors with a daily phone call (Mon.-Fri.) to check on their well being and bring some friendly conversation into what can sometimes be a very lonely day. This would require about one hour of your time during one weekday morning, and the time is flexible.

If you would like to know more about this opportunity, or about the program itself, please email Telephone Reassurance Coordinator, Debbie Mercer at dmercer@rsvpsuffolk.org
